Abstract:

PURPOSE: To check the occurrence of any creakiness at time of braking by making porosity in a peripheral part or both sides larger than that in the central part as much as a specific percentage, in a friction material of a disk pad or the like consisting of a nonasbestine fiber, thermosetting resin and filler powder.

CONSTITUTION: A friction material consisting of a fiber ingredient other than asbestos, a thermosetting resin ingredient of phenolic resin or the like, and a filler powder ingredient of graphite and barium sulfate or the like is set in a metal mold after making peripheral parts 3, 4 smaller per unit volume than the central part, heating and pressurizing it into molding, and a friction material 2 is formed on the surface of a friction pad 1. If so, porosity in the peripheral part of this friction material 2 is made larger than that of the central part as much as 2-10%. Thus, generating rate of creakiness at time of braking is largely abatable.
