Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a friction stir welding method capable of improving the quality of a manufactured friction stir welded body, and the friction stir welded body having high quality.SOLUTION: In a friction stir welding method, a rotary tool provided at the tip region of the rotary tool with a central part of a cylindrical shape and a pressing part around the central part is used to weld two welding objective members. The friction stir welding method comprise steps of: forming grooves in the surface of one of the welding objective members, the grooves being arranged at intervals from a center point against which the center of the rotary tool is pressed or from a center line which becomes the movement locus of the center of the rotary tool; arranging the two welding objective members in a pile; and while rotating the rotary tool, keeping the tip region of the rotary tool at the center point and pressing the same against the one welding objective member or moving the same along the center line and pressing the same against the one welding objective member. A friction stir welded body is manufactured by using the method.
