PURPOSE: To enhance not only the assembling operability in connecting a door hinge with this hinge being passed from outside the vehicle into inside the same but also the rigidity of the front pillar, by dividing a pillar outer portion in the back-and-forth direction of the vehicle and previously mounting the door hinge onto a pillar outer rear portion.

CONSTITUTION: The front pillar portion 28 is arranged such that a cowl side 32 which serves as a pillar inner portion is attached to an inner side position of the vehicle of a pillar reinforcement 30 and a front pillar outer portion 17 is mounted to an outer side position thereof. The front pillar outer portion 17 is divided in the back-and-forth direction of the vehicle and a front pillar outer portion 17 thereof has an open section which is opened at its surface directed toward the inside of the vehicle, flanges 48 formed at its bent end portions being superposed upon flanges 40 of the pillar reinforcement 30. On the other hand, a rear pillar outer portion 17B is made to act as a hinge reinforcing member and is previously connected thereto with a door hinge 50 in the form of a single member. This door hinge 50 is provided with a base portion 50A having a circular hole 52 which supports a support. shaft as well as an integral bracket 50B.
