Title:
FRP-MADE HULL COATED WITH METAL, AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING SAID HULL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS6085091
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide an FRP-made hull excellent in resistance to shock and wear, by spraying a molten metal such as carbon steel and stainless steel on a molding die whose inside surface is previously processed for separating the molded product from the die, to make a coating layer on the inside surface, and by molding the FRP on the layer.

CONSTITUTION: The inside surface of a die for molding an FRP-made hull is first processed for separating the molded product from the surface. Molten zinc is then sprayed at a thickness of 0.05 to 0.5mm on the inside surface of the die. A metal such as carbon steel and stainless steel is provided on the zinc by arc melt-spraying, plasma melt-spraying or the like so that a coating layer of 0.5 to 3mm in thickness is made of the zinc and the latter metal. The FRP is molded on the coating layer. Since the FRP-made hull is coated with the layer comprising the zinc and the other metal and firmly conjoined to the hull, the hull is excellent in resistance to shock and wear even on ice-containing water or the like.
