To provide a method for directly obtaining an FRP molded article by utilizing a molding method for a preform which uses a robot arm type gun device by a computer control.
This FRP molded article is molded by jetting and feeding a reinforcing fiber and a matrix resin to a molding die by the action of a jetting fluid by using the gun device which is provided at the distal end section of a robot arm. In this case, as the reinforcing fiber, a short fiber having a length of 3 to 300 mm is used (1), and as the matrix resin, a thermoplastic resin is used within a range that the resin content in the molded article is 50 to 80 wt.% (2). Also, the jetting fluid is jetted and fed to the molding die by using hot air at a temperature of the softening point of the thermoplastic resin or higher (3), the shaping is performed by the molding die (4), and then, the matrix resin is hardened by cooling the molding die (5), and then, the molded article is removed from the molding die (6).
