Abstract:

To provide a fuel cell device and a control method thereof, which can start a fuel cell device while avoiding an abnormal drop of a voltage of the stack at low temperature.

The fuel cell device 100 is provided with a temperature sensor 12 for detecting the temperature of a fuel cell stack 10 and an output controller 30 for controlling power outputted by the stack. The output controller 30 carries out a voltage control to maintain the voltage outputted by the stack 10 to a target voltage when the temperature detected by the temperature sensor 12 is lower than a threshold, and carries out a current control to maintain the current outputted by the stack 10 to a target current when the detected temperature is higher than the threshold. The stack 10 is maintained to a target voltage when the temperature is low. While carrying out voltage control, the temperature of the stack 10 is increased by its own heat generation. The fuel cell device 100 can be started while avoiding an abnormal drop of the voltage of the stack, even when the temperature of the stack 10 is low.
