PURPOSE: To improve workability in assembly, by inserting a rigid frame member interposed between a cell stack and a manifold into a heat resistant elastic insulating member and integrally providing gasket portions for the cell stack and the manifold with the insulating member.
CONSTITUTION: A metallic frame member 10 constructed of Al or the like is inserted into an insulating member 20 comprising a heat resisting member of fluorocarbon rubber formed to a specific configuration. The insulating member 20 has gasket portions 21, 22 corresponding to a cell stack 1 and a manifold 3 which are formed integrally with it. A rigid member 10 engaged with the elastic member 20 clamps the stack 1 about its outer circumference. Then, a sword guard 3' for mounting the manifold 3 is placed on the gasket portion 22 at the opposite sides of a cutout 25 of the insulating member 20 and the manifold 3 is clamped and fixed by a bolt 8 passing through the soward guard 3' and the cutout 25 to be threaded to the frame member 10. At the time, the gasket portion 22 which is integral with the insulating member 20 seals a gap between the frame member 10 the sword guard 3'.
