To provide a fuel cell system capable of continuously using the fuel cell system after the specified service life of a hydrogenation desulfurizer expires, at a cost lower than the conventional system.
The fuel cell system has: a hydrogenation desulfurizer that removes sulfur compounds from a material; and a fuel cell unit 1 that generates a hydrogen-containing gas from the material passed through the hydrogenation desulfurizer and generates power using the hydrogen-containing gas. The hydrogenation desulfurizer includes: a converter section 2 that converts the sulfur compound into hydrogen sulfide; and a first absorbing section 3 that absorbs the hydrogen sulfide generated by the converter section. The first absorbing section 3 is structured separately from the converter section 2 so as to be attachable/detachable therefrom.
