Abstract:
To reduce a hydrogen concentration in off-gas to be discharged from a fuel cell to the outside at the time of low efficiency operation of the fuel cell.SOLUTION: A fuel cell system comprises: a fuel cell; oxidant gas supply piping; oxidation off-gas exhaust piping; by-pass piping connecting the oxidant gas supply piping with the oxidation off-gas exhaust piping; a cell temperature acquisition unit for acquiring a fuel cell temperature; a hydrogen concentration detection unit for detecting a hydrogen concentration in off-gas; and a control unit for controlling a flow rate of oxidant gas to be supplied to the by-pass piping. The hydrogen concentration detection unit has a surface covered with a water-repellent film, is provided between a connection part between the oxidation off-gas exhaust piping and the by-pass piping and an oxidation off-gas exhaust port of the fuel cell, and is heated so as to have a temperature higher than the fuel cell temperature. At the time of low efficiency operation of the fuel cell and when the detected hydrogen concentration is equal to or higher than a predetermined threshold, the control unit increases the flow rate of oxidant gas as compared with the case where the detected hydrogen concentration is lower than the predetermined threshold.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
