To provide a fuel cell which effectively utilizes water generated in a cathode at an anode by holding it in the fuel cell using a high concentration liquid fuel with little water content.

The fuel cell 10 includes a power generation part 1 in which a cathode 11 to reduce oxygen and an anode to oxidize fuel are arranged interposing a solid electrolyte membrane 13, a liquid fuel storage part 2 to store a liquid fuel 6, and a liquid fuel vaporizing part 3 which is arranged between the anode 12 and the liquid fuel storage part 2 and vaporizes the liquid fuel. Each of the cathode 11 and the anode 12 includes a catalyst layer, and at least one of the catalyst layers contains a hydrophilic water management component.
