Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent generation of thermal deterioration and melting damage of a catalyst due to excessive temperature rise in a fuel controller of an internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: This fuel controller 21 of an internal combustion engine includes exhaust emission control catalysts 6a, 6b provided on an exhaust passage 3 of an internal combustion engine installed on a vehicle, and restricts the rotational speed or vehicle speed of the internal combustion engine to a prescribed upper limit or less by repeating fuel cutoff and fuel injection when the rotational speed or vehicle speed of the internal combustion engine reaches a prescribed upper limit, wherein the ratio of the number of strokes for conducting the fuel cutoff to the number of strokes for conducting the fuel injection is controlled so that the exhaust air-fuel ratio for the internal combustion engine may not approach the theoretical air-fuel ratio.
