Abstract:
PURPOSE: To adaptively compensate behavior of an air-fuel ratio by a method wherein a fuel injection correction amount is calculated so that a detecting air-fuel ratio by an air-fuel ratio detecting means situated upper stream from a catalyst device is conducted to coincide with a target air-fuel ratio and the target air-fuel ratio is corrected according to a detecting air-fuel ratio by an air-fuel ratio detecting means situated downstream from the catalyst device.
CONSTITUTION: A wide area air-fuel ratio sensor 54 is arranged at an exhaust system assembly part situated upper stream from a catalyst device 28 and an O2 sensor 56 situated downstream therefrom and output signals therefrom are inputted to a control unit 34 togetherwith sensor signals from a crank angle sensor 40 and a throttle opening sensor 42. An injection correction amount is calculated by an adaptive controller, being a controller, in consideration of dynamic behavior of an internal combustion engine so that from a detecting air-fuel ratio by the wide area air-fuel ratio sensor 54, an air-fuel ratio is converged to a target air-fuel ratio, and an adaptive parameter inputted to an adaptive controller is adjusted by an adaptive parameter adjusting mechanism. Further, a target air-fuel ratio is corrected according to an air-fuel ratio detected by an O2 sensor 56 and a fuel injection amount is decided according to a target air-fuel ratio after correction.
