PURPOSE: To realize favorable mixing of fuel and air by providing a controller for performing the control of switching a selector valve in response to the actuated state of an engine and of injecting fuel from a main or auxiliary nozzle hole by means of the change of the amount by which a needle valve is lifted.
CONSTITUTION: The control of switching a selector valve 16 in response to the actuated state of an engine and of injecting fuel from a main nozzle hole 11 of an auxiliary nozzle hole 13 by means of the change of the amount of which a needle valve 10 is lifted is performed by a controller 20. Thereby the direction of fuel injection can be surely changed in response to engine loads and hence the temperature state of a combustion chamber 2 without being affected by the actuated state of the engine during starting and under a partially loaded or high-loaded state, esp. engine speed, and fuel injected into the combustion chamber 2 is caused to intersect a squish flow toward the combustion chamber 2 so as to realize favorable mixing of fuel and air.
