PURPOSE: To obtain good injection characteristics by providing a valve member of a fuel injection nozzle with a shrunk end engaged with a spring base and an annular intermediate ember surrounding the shrunk end, and applying a predetermined force to the spring abutment via an intermediate member when supplying a pressurized fuel.
CONSTITUTION: In an nozzle body 10 having inwardly extending stop holes 11, 17, an extension valve member 20 that can freely rest on a seating 12 of an end of the hole 11 is mounted. The valve member 20 is biased to a close direction by resilience means 30. A shrunk portion 21 of the valve member 20 is surrounded by a sleeve 18 sliding in the hole 17, and a shrunk upper end 23 of a valve member 20 is surrounded by an intermediate member 24. The intermediate member 24 is contained in a recess 19 formed in an enlarged portion in an opening end of the hole 17. Then, when a pressurized fuel is supplied via a fuel inlet 16, a force in the direction of opening the valve is applied to the sleeve 18 and the valve member 20, and the valve member 20 is opened when a predetermined or greater force is applied to a spring abutment 29 via the sleeve 18 and the intermediate member 24.
