PURPOSE: To provide a fuel infection pump which can suppress effectively the temp. rise of the fuel in an injection pump.
CONSTITUTION: An overflow valve 60 is installed in the neighborhood of a spill valve 30 at a certain angle, for example 30deg., to the axis of a drive shaft, and a compression coil spring 64 is accommodated inside of the first valve body 61. The valve opening pressure of the overflow valve 60 is determined by the energizing force of this coil spring 64, and it is set to a pressure level slightly lower than the pressure value set for a suction gallery 14. The overflowing fuel getting high temp. and high pressure with opening of the spill valve 30 is mostly discharged from the overflow valve 60 and returned to a fuel tank, not illustrated, which allows suppression of inclusion of the overflowing fuel at a high temp. in the suction gallery 14 upon passing through a spill valve backstream chamber 57 and an overflow passage 58.
