PURPOSE: To enable to control fuel supply for a plurality of cylinders accurately and independently for each cylinder, by controlling respective fuel control means by an electronic control unit in response to signals relating to the conditions of engine operation.
CONSTITUTION: In response to the conditions of engine operation, an electronic control unit 27 turns a plunger 13 by a drive motor 22 to change the position where a cut-off port 11 of a cylinder 8 is registered with an oblique fuel control groove 14 of the plunger 13 and to thereby determine the capacity of a cylinder operating chamber 15, i.e., the injection quantity of fuel. In this state, the control unit 27 detects the injection timing from the output signal of a TDC sensor 47 and operates a drive motor 35 for a timing control means 31 by the output signal S3 of the sensor 47. By thus turning a rotatable member 34 to a required angle, fuel in the chamber 15 is carried under pressure to an injection valve 39. If conditions of engine operation are changed, the control unit 27 varies the values of signals S2, S3 afforded respectively to a fuel control means 7 and the timing control means 31.
