Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a fuel oil composition slight in corrosion, reduced in soot particle and improved in combustibility, by adding a specific amount of a prescribed polysaccharide to a fuel oil.
SOLUTION: This fuel oil composition is obtained by adding (B) 0.001-5 mass % based on the whole amount of the composition of a polysaccharide having 1,000-50,000,000 number-average molecular weight {e.g. a branched type polysaccharide of the formula [(m) and (n) are each a value to make the number-average molecular weight 1,000-50,000,000 and m/(m+n) is ≥0.3, preferably ≥0.5 and more preferably ≥0.8]} to (A) a fuel oil (e.g. a liquid hydrocarbon fuel oil having 40-600°C boiling point, especially a heavy oil fraction such as a heavy oil for a boiler, a heavy oil for heating a building, a heavy oil for a diesel engine for a ship and a heavy oil for ceramic industry).
