To sufficiently increase a fuel pressure discharged from a low-pressure pump when the fuel is supplied to a fuel injection valve at the fuel pressure discharged from the low-pressure pump at a cold start of an engine.
The control device includes a low pressure side P/R17 (a low pressure side pressure regulator) that operates when a low-pressure pump discharging fuel pressure (the pressure of fuel discharged from a low-pressure pump 12) becomes a low-pressure side set fuel pressure or above, and a high pressure side P/R18 (a high pressure side pressure regulator) that operates when the low-pressure pump discharging fuel pressure becomes a high-pressure side set fuel pressure or above. At the cold start of the engine, a fuel discharge operation of a high-pressure pump 15 is stopped and an electromagnetic valve 22 is closed to switch to a low pressure side P/R invalidated state in which the low pressure side P/R17 cannot adjust the low-pressure side pump discharging fuel pressure. Thereby, the low-pressure pump discharging fuel pressure is increased up to the high-pressure side set fuel pressure at which the high pressure side P/R18 operates to sufficiently increase the low-pressure pump discharging fuel pressure (a fuel pressure at which the fuel is supplied to the fuel injection valve 26), and thereby improving the engine starting performance.
