Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prevent the discharge of vapor in large quantity at a stroke in a device formed in such a way as to discharge fuel from plural fuel pumps by stopping the operation of one fuel pump while the other fuel pump is operated at the time of restarting an engine and the like.

CONSTITUTION: A fuel injection device for an engine is provided with plural (two in the drawing) fuel pumps 3 formed of motor parts 3B and pump parts 3C provided in casings 3A. Fuel piping 5 connected to the discharge side of each pump part 3B is joined at a confluence part 6 and then connected to a fuel injection valve, and each fuel pump 3 is controlled by a motor control device on the basis of the injection pulse width and engine speed. At the time of starting each fuel pump 3, while voltage is applied to the motor part 3A of one fuel pump 3 to be driven for the specified time, the other fuel pump 3 is stopped. After the lapse of the specified time, voltage application to the motor part 3A of the other fuel pump 3 is started.
