PURPOSE: To hold a relief function of a high pressure fuel pump without separately providing a relief valve, and to enable a pressure control valve (high pressure control valve) for controlling the fuel pressure of the high pressure fuel pump to hold a relief function.
CONSTITUTION: It is the point aimed at to bypass high pressure piping (high pressure fuel supply piping 16, high pressure fuel control piping 17) between a high pressure fuel pump 4 and an injector 8. A pump control valve communicating path 18 is formed in such a manner as to bypass the injector 8 to allow the high pressure fuel pump 4 to communicate with a pressure control valve. Further, the piping passage area of the pump control valve communicating path 18 is set smaller than the piping passage area of the high pressure fuel supply piping 16 and the piping passage area of the high pressure fuel control piping 17 between the injector 8 and the pressure control valve 10.
