Abstract:

To reduce impacts generated in pressure-fed fuel and to improve resolution of pressure-feeding amount of fuel by giving a profile to a pump drive cam so as to moderate a plunger lift speed before a press-feeding top death center.

A pump drive cam 77 for lifting a plunger 83 of a fuel supply pump 80 has a cam profile 78 in which a rotation angle range θe corresponding to a pressure-feed stroke of the plunger 83 is wider than a rotation angle range θi corresponding to a suction stroke of the plunger 83 and a lift speed of the plunger 83 per rotation angle of a pump drive shaft 77a is slower than a drop speed of that. Impacts given to fuel during fuel pressure-feed period is reduced to suppress vibration and noise of the fuel supply pump 80. Resolution of fuel pressure-feed amount during the pressure-feed stroke is thereby improved.
