Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively exhaust an intermediate tank by a method wherein tank exhaust air-fuel mixture is guided to the intake pipe of an internal combustion engine without exerting any trouble on the drive characteristics of an internal combustion engine.
SOLUTION: Fuel steam of an intermediate tank is fed to an internal combustion engine 17 through a tank exhaust valve. The opening sectional area of a tank exhaust valve is changed according to an operation state, such as a load tL and the number (n) of revolutions. The opening sectional area is reduced when tank exhaust air-fuel mixture exceeds a desired amount and is rendered rich, and increased when the tank exhaust air-fuel mixture is not brought into a desired rich state. A tank exhaust valve is driven in a given duty ratio obtained from a data generator 16, and regulated according to a characteristic curve 24 related to the average value of a lambda correction factor FR. When enriching by tank exhaust air-fuel mixture occurs, a tank exhaust valve is closed by decreasing a duty ratio corresponding to the enriching state.
