PURPOSE: To provide a fume hood controller which controls the ventilation of a fume hood for laboratory, has a desirable safety feature, and can maintain an excellent energy efficiency.

CONSTITUTION: The fume hood controller which gives a desirable operation safety feature to a worker who conducts experiments or other work by using a fume hood 60. The controller is suitably used for the hood 60 provided with a filtering means positioned between a fume hood enclosure and an exhaust duct 70 and discriminates whether or not the filter medium of the filtering means is clogged in excess of a prescribed amount. In addition, the controller gives a visible or audible instruction in accordance with the detected state of the clogging. In addition, an emergency switch 80 is provided near each fume hood 60 and, when the switch 80 is actuated, the controller not only controls the corresponding fume hood 60 so that the hood 60 can be operated in an emergency mood, but also instructs the central building console of a building monitoring and control system to operate a heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning system.
