To provide the multiple functions of a switch through the use of an existing switch without separately providing a switch only for changing over the functions by changing over the functions of the switch in accordance with the continuing time of an input signal from the multi-function switch.
For changing over the functions of the multi-function switch, the timewise continuing state of a switch operation is used. Time when the continuing state of the switch operation continues is obtained by measuring the continuing time of the input signal L, which is obtained by the switch operation. The switch functions which are previously set in accordance with the length of the continuing time are selected. Namely, a function A is selected when the continuing time of the input signal L, which is measured, is large. When continuing time is t3, a function B is selected. Thus, it is not necessary to provide the switch for changing over the functions. The array of the switches can be compactly stored at the time of applying it for a remote controller. Plural switches can be executed for one switch with one operation and operability improves.
