Abstract:
A furniture panel 10 is recessed to receive a fitting for forming a joint with another panel or receiving a hinge. The recess includes a blind bore 11 in one major face and a semicylindrical groove 12 in the same major face which extends from an edge of the panel towards the bore 11 and which may connect with the bore 11, Fig. 5, or stop short thereof, Fig. 6. The fitting sits in the bore 11 and includes a cover plate 30 which covers at least the periphery of the bore 11 and includes parts extending into the groove 12 to prevent relative rotation of the fitting and panel. The fitting may house a rotatable cam 31 which co-acts with the head 33 of a bolt 32 extending from a further panel 35.
