To obtain both a fusing fiber having excellent hydrophilic characteristics and biodegradable characteristics while retaining a tensile strength and a tear strength when made into a fiber structure and the fiber structure using the fusing fiber.
This biodegradable fusing conjugate fiber comprises a polyvinyl alcohol (A) having 200-500 viscosity-average polymerization degree, 40-99.99 mol% saponification degree, 70-99.9 mol% molar fraction of central hydroxyl group of hydroxyl group triple chain by a triad indication to a vinyl alcohol unit 160°C-230°C melting point and ≤150°C softening point in a moisture state in which a polyvinyl alcohol component (X) containing 0.0003-1 mass part based on 100 mass parts of the component (A) of an alkali metal ion (B) and a biodegradable polymer (Y) having ≥130°C melting point are conjugated, the mass ratio of the component (Y) to the component (X) is 20:80-80:20 and the component (X) possesses ≥60% circumferential length of the fiber.
