PURPOSE: To improve accuracy, strength and stability of welding and fusion weld a material not available to be vibration welded heretofore by applying the vibration having vibration frequency and vibration amplitude to a material to be bonded from the direction crossing the direction of applying static pressure in the different direction.
CONSTITUTION: Materials to be welded 11a and 11b are fixed to lower and upper platens 6 and 14 through jigs 9a and 9b. Then, hydraulic cylinders 4 and 13 are actuated to move a lift table 3 and a head 12 in the up and down direction and static pressure is applied from above and below the cementing direction to a cecementing section of the materials to be welded 11a and 11b. When power is applied to respective magnetic coils 8 and 15, resonant springs start resonating and horizontal vibration is applied in the direction crossing the lower and upper platens 6 and 14 to apply composite vibration to a cementing section. At that time, vibration frequency the same as or different from the vibration amplitude is applied to the lower and upper platens 6 and 14. A vibration pattern suitable for a material to be welded can be formed by said arrangement.
