The game apparatus prestores a series of operation data for continuously operating a player character as data for an automatic operation in place of the operation input of the player during a prescribed period in the game. A control means operates the player character, based on the data for the automatic operation. During a period when the player character acts in an automatic control means, a play start operation for indicating the play start of the user is received. At a timing for receiving the play start operation, the operation of the player character, based on the data for the automatic operation, is terminated, and then, the operation control of the player character is started based on the operation of the player.
