PURPOSE: To provide the gamma correction circuit with a small circuit scale and excellent characteristic.

CONSTITUTION: The circuit is provided with selectors 7, 8 which select a 1st correction means when an input video signal 11 is higher than offset data 13 as the result of comparison of a comparator 1 and select a 2nd correction means when the input video signal 11 is lower than the offset data 13, and the 1st correction means consists of a subtractor 4, a multiplier 15 and an adder 6 and the 2nd correction means is made up of a ROM 2 storing only a correction value corresponding to the input video signal 11 smaller than the offset data 13 and an adder 5.
