Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a γ-Ti-Al alloy excellent in ductility, strength, working aptitude, oxidation resistance or the like by specifying the compsn. composed of Ti, Al, Cr and W.
CONSTITUTION: This Ti-al alloy is the one composed of, by atomic ratio Ti52-44, Al46-50 Cr1-3 W1-3, and in which the characteristics of a γ-Ti-al intermetallic compd. are improved by Cr and W. The alloy is obtd. by ingot metallurgy, and preferably, heat treatment is furthermore executed at 1,250 to 1,350°C. By reinforcing this ally by a fibrous reinforcing material such as SiC fibers, it is suitably used as the component in the structure for used at high strength and high temps. such as a jet engine or the like.
