To reduce the amount of heat necessary for drying garbage, to improve heat efficiency, to shorten the time for treating garbage, to prevent odor from leaking to the outside, and to make an apparatus compact as a whole.
There is provided an apparatus for treating garbage, including a solid/liquid separator 14 that mechanically separates a solid component from a mixed fluid comprising pre-crushed garbage and water and discharges a fluid component therefrom, a treatment tank 12 that receives, agitates, and heats the separated solid component to evaporate moisture therein, condensers 16, 18 that cool air comprising the moisture evaporated in the treatment tank 12 to condense the same and discharge the resulting water therefrom, an air circulation path 64 that allows air to circulate between the treatment tank 12 and the condensers 16, 18, and a liquid discharge path 54 that allows the fluid component separated by the solid/liquid separator 14 and the condensed moisture to join together and discharges them while preventing the fluid component from flowing back to the condensers 16, 18.
