To provide a garbage treating device capable of discharging the constant amount of a fermented material from a fermentation chamber to a drying chamber irrespective of the state of the fermented material as a garbage treating device with a treating tank divided by a partition plate provided with a closable communicating port into an upper chamber used as a fermentation chamber and a lower chamber used as a drying chamber, fermenting garbage charged into the fermentation chamber by agitation with a fermenting impeller, discharging the fermented material in the fermentation chamber into the drying chamber by opening the communicating port and further agitating the fermented material by a drying impeller in the drying chamber to dry the material.
The opening area of the communicating port is adjusted in accordance with the viscosity and/or the water content of the fermented material in the fermentation chamber 17. Otherwise, the opening time of the communicating port is adjusted in accordance with the viscosity and/or the water content of the fermented material in the chamber 17.
