The garbage treatment apparatus is provided with: a treatment tank 12 having a bottom surface comprising a hemicylindrical surface; a heater 38 that heats the bottom surface of the treatment tank 12; a motor 18 that drives a rotary shaft 14; an agitation plate 22 fixed on the rotation end of the supporting bracket 20 fixed at the rotary shaft 14 and folded so as for the front part 22a on the side of forward rotation direction of the rotary shaft 14 to come close to the bottom surface of the treatment tank 12 and for the rear part 22b on the side of the reverse rotation direction to depart from the bottom surface gradually toward the reverse rotation direction; and a control means 50 that controls the motor 18 so as to repeat an operation of reverse direction rotation at a suitable angle during the forward rotation of the rotary shaft 14 and energizes the heater 38.
