Abstract:

A combustion powered tool (10) for driving fasteners including a housing (12) with a main chamber (14). Within the main chamber (14) is a power source (16) having a combustion end (30) and a lower end (28). The combustion end (30) of the power source (16) drives a rod (67). Fasteners are sequentially fed to the rod (67) for driving engagement with the rod (67). Depending from the lower end (28) of the power source (16) is a nosepiece (26) having a tool end (74), and a workpiece end (80) opposite the tool end (74). The nosepiece (26) is configured for receiving the rod (67) and for guiding the rod (67) to a workpiece. To protect the nosepiece (26), a protective shield (73) envelops the nosepiece (26).
