Title:
GAS COOLING TYPE CURRENT LEAD FOR SUPERCONDUCTIVE MACHINE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS612307
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve the heat exchanging efficiency of the titled device by a method wherein, a number of electric conductors, which are twisted or knitted at short pitches, are inserted into a metallic cylinder.

CONSTITUTION: Twisted conductors 2 or knitted conductors 2 are passed through a stainless steel pipe 1, then heat exchange rate is enhanced by increasing the space factor of the electric conductor located inside the cross section by performing a special work, and the flow of helium gas is made uniform. A small number of superconductive wires can be contained in the above-mentioned conductors having geometrical conditions. As the temperature of gas at the lower end part of a current lead is lower than the critical temperature of the superconductive material, a superconductive state can be maintained at a part of the current lead by performing the above-mentioned procedures, thereby enabling to reduce thermal loss.
