To provide a gas cutting apparatus which can perform automatic cutting at a constant speed, can improve work efficiency, and can reduce machine weight and cost with a simple structure.
A gas cutting torch 6 is mounted on a carriage 5 which is arranged movably along a rail member 2. One end of a spring member 13 is connected to the carriage 5, while a winding member 14, around which the other end of the spring member 13 is wound, is installed along the rail member 2 on a body of the gas cutting apparatus 1. The structure is characterized in that a movement of the carriage 5 is constrained by forcibly pressing a contacting part 32b of a brake lever 32, that is a constraint means, against the rail member 2, and a loading wheel 20 of a gear train 19, that is a loading means, applies the load to the movement of the carriage 5 against the winding force of the spring member 13.
