To provide a gas electron amplifier stably operating even if continuing a long-term operation, its manufacturing method and a radiation detector using a gas electron amplifier.
A plate-like multi-layer body 10 is arranged between a drift electrode 100 and a collection electrode 102, the plate-like multi-layer body 10 functions as a gas electron amplifier performing electronic amplification due to an electron avalanche effect and constituted of a plate-like insulating layer 12 made of a resin, and planar metal layers 14, 16 covered with both sides of the plate-like insulating layer 12. And, a plurality of through hole structures 18 having walls perpendicular to planes of the metal layers 14, 16 and for focusing an electric field are formed in the plate-like multi-layer body 10. Prescribed gas for detection is filled in a chamber 104 which houses these components. The electrons entering the chamber 104 are amplified in the through hole structures 18 and detected with the collection electrode 102 and the detector 22 receives a detection signal.
