To provide a gas electron amplifier accurately identifying a two-dimensional position of radiation, and also to provide a radiation detector using the same gas electron amplifier.
An electron amplification plate 10 formed of: a plate-shaped insulating layer 12; and a planar conductor layer 16 formed on one surface of the plate-shaped insulating layer 12 is arranged between an electron generation electrode 101 and a detection section 102. A plurality of through-holes 18 for focusing an electrical field are formed on the electron amplification plate 10. A chamber 104 for housing these formation elements is filled up with a designated detection gas. The electron generation electrode 101 and the electron amplification plate 10 are closely stuck together, a primary electron generated from the electron generation electrode 101 caused by incidence of radiation, is amplified by entering the through-hole 18 arranged in a position corresponding to an incident position of the radiation generating the primary electron.
