Title:
STEEL FOR WORKING AND ITS PRODUCTION
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3177146
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a material having excellent workability even if an electric furnace steel containing tramp elements is used, by limiting the amounts of C and N among components in particular and adding prescribed amounts of Ti and Nb.
SOLUTION: In a steel for working, having a composition inevitably containing ≤1.5wt.% Cu and ≤2.0wt.% Ni as tramp elements, Ti and/or Nb is incorporated by 0.001-0.10wt.% and the amounts of C and N are controlled to ≤0.0050wt.% and 0.0040-0.0090wt.%, respectively. By this procedure, the material, having an r-value exceeding 1.85 and excellent in workability, can be obtained. Ti and Nb produce effects of reducing C and N in the steel by precipitating and fixing them as carbonitride and preventing deterioration in workability caused of solid-solution C and N. However, N is incorporated by an amount in the above range because it is advantageous to allow proper amounts of nitride to remain for the improvement of r-value.
