To provide a gas oil composition having a sulfur content of 5 mass ppm that keeps excellent oxidation stability without adding additives such as an oxidation inhibitor.
The gas oil composition comprises a sulfur content of 5 mass ppm, a nitrogen content of 1 mass ppm, a distillation amount of 8.0 vol.% at distillation temperatures of 220C, a monocyclic aromatic group content of 1.0-17.0 vol.%, a fraction index (Z) of 850 expressed by formula Z=4V220-250-13V250-280+18V280-310-12V310-340+4V340-+5A1-57A2+99A3+13CI, wherein, V220-250, V250-280, V280-310, V310-340, and V340- each represent a distillation amount (vol.%) in a distillation temperature range (C) each represented by suffix, A1, A2, and A3 represent a content (vol.%) of a monocyclic, bicyclic or tricyclic aromatic group respectively, and CI represents a cetane index.
