To provide a gas sensor that includes a spacer that suitably achieves both prevention of an increase in temperature and ensuring the heat resistance of a seal member, and can be reduced in size and length.SOLUTION: A gas sensor for detecting a predetermined gas component included in a gas to be measured comprises: a sensor element that includes a detection unit on one end side, a casing in which the sensor element is accommodated and fixed, and a connector that is arranged inside the casing and electrically connects the sensor element and the outside to each other. The casing includes: an external cylinder that includes a main part in which reference gas is present and a sealing part being an end part reduced in diameter compared to the main part, and has the other end part of the sensor element projecting into the main part; a rubber seal member that is fitted into the sealing part to seal the external cylinder; and a spacer that is interposed between the seal member and the connector inside the external cylinder. The spacer includes a first resin spacer that is in contact with the seal member and has higher heat resistance than the seal member, and a ceramic second spacer that is in contact with the connector.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
