Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain gas treatment effect by utilizing corona discharge without relying on ionization or the generation of ozone.
SOLUTION: This gas treatment apparatus is equipped with electrode plates 1 parallelly arranged so as to be opposed to each other and the wire material 2 arranged between the electrode plates 1 and the wire material 2 is used as a cathode (-) to apply DC constant voltage across the wire material 2 and the electrode plates 1 not only to generate corona discharge but also to generate a large number of corona spots in the length direction of the wire material 2. When corona discharge is generated by this method, the gas present in the discharge space between the electrode plates 1 and the wire material 2 is treated and VOC (volatile organic compound) such as formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, acetic acid, formic acid or the like or gas such as ammonia, methyl thioalcohol or the like can be decomposed and removed.
