Abstract:
PURPOSE:To extend the life of a gasket by reducing the tightening of once- tightened gasket to the seal load point and maintaing the tightening of the gasket at such point. CONSTITUTION:When tightening a gasket 1 installed to a shut-off member which shuts off a fluid passage, the gasket 1 is once tightened to the seal load S1 in the compression cycle of its history curve and then loosened reduce the tightening to the seal load S2 in the restoration cycle of the history curve and maintained at such load thereby reducing the deformation of the gasket 1 and extending its life.
