Title:
GASOLINE SULFUR REDUCTION IN FLUID CATALYTIC CRACKING
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3550065
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst composition for reducing sulfur contents in gasoline products and other petroleum products produced by a catalytic cracking process, and a process for reducing product sulfur using the composition.
SOLUTION: A process for reducing sulfur contents in a catalytically cracked petroleum fraction comprises a step wherein a petroleum feedstock fraction containing an organic sulfur compound is subjected to a catalytic cracking at an elevated temperature in the presence of a product sulfur reduction catalyst comprising a porous molecular sieve which has (i) a first metal component in an oxidation state above zero within the interior of the pore structure of the sieve and (ii) a second metal component comprising at least one rare earth element within the interior of the pore structure of the sieve and a decomposition catalyst, to produce a liquid-state decomposition product with a reduced sulfur content.
