Abstract:
To provide a gear and gear drive unit which sufficiently prepares an oil film between teeth surfaces of the gears rotating at high speed and preventing generation of pitching, abrasion, and scoring and improving its durability by preventing a temperature rise and wear.
A large number of fine recessed dents is prepared on a tooth surface at random, an average area of the dents is set to be within a range of 30 to 100 μm2, and a Rymax is set to be within a range of 0.4 to 1.0 μm. Thus, the gear acquires a longer life under an extremely thin condition of the oil film at low-viscosity, thin lubrication so that the tooth surface prepares a high oil film forming capability.
