The subject gel form skin care preparation for external use contains (1) a carboxyvinyl polymer which may be alkyl-modified and (2) a polyquaternium. As the carboxyvinyl polymer which may be alkyl-modified, a (10-30C) alkyl acrylate-methacrylic acid crosslinked copolymer is preferable and the content of the same is preferably 0.1-1 mass%. As the polyquaternium, polyquaternium 39 is preferable.
