To provide a gel-like composition that can keep high viscosity even under the coexistence of a salt and an ionic surfactant.
The gel-like composition is obtained from a composition (A) and a composition (B) as described below. The content of the composition (A) is 0.3-5.0 wt.% of the whole gel-like composition, and the viscosity is set to be 15 Pa s or more. The composition (A) is a cellulose fiber having a maximum fiber diameter of 1000 nm or less and a number average fiber diameter of 2-150 nm. The cellulose has a cellulose I type crystalline structure, and a hydroxyl group at C6 position in a glucose unit in a cellulose molecule is selectively oxidized and modified to an aldehyde group and a carboxyl group. The cellulose fiber includes 0.08-0.3 mmol/g of the above aldehyde group and 0.6-2.0 mmol/g of the above carboxyl group, The composition (B) is water.
