To provide a Gemini type fluorine-based surfactant having an azobenzene backbone as a spacer.
This Gemini type fluorine-based surfactant having the azobenzene backbone as the spacer is obtained by comprising a first process of diazotizing p-aminophenol, then a second process of performing a coupling reaction to synthesize OH-azo, a third process of synthesizing Br-azo by 1,2-dibromoethane, further a fourth process of synthesizing DN-azo by dimethylamine and finally a fifth process of introducing a fluorinated carbon chain. Also, after the above fifth process, a new Gemini type fluorine-based surfactant can be obtained by even performing a sixth process of ion-exchanging the obtained Gemini type fluorine-based surfactant. The disclosed Gemini type fluorine-based surfactant has (10:0) ratio of (the trans-form:the cis-form), but after the irradiation of ultraviolet light, the ratio of (the trans-form:the cis-form) changes to (2:8). Also, by the irradiation of visible light, the cis-form is photo-isomerized to the trans-form as showing a reversible change.
