To provide a method of obtaining a new gene of which the expression is induced or depressed by being treated with a β-amyloid, so as to control neurological diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease.
This method for obtaining a new gene of which the expression is induced or depressed by the β-amyloid treatment comprises applying a cDNA (complementary deoxyribonucleic acid) subtraction technique. And the new DNA obtained by the above method, a peptide encoded by the DNA, a recombinant vector, containing the DNA, a transformant having the recombinant vector an antibody against the peptide, a method of producing the polypeptide, a method of screening such a compound that controls the gene expression of a prostaglandin E synthetic enzyme and/or its enzyme activity by using the above DNA or the like, and compounds screened by the screening method are provided. Further, medicinal compositions and diagnostic measures used for the neurological diseases relating to the β-amyloid are provided by utilizing the above compounds and methods.
