Title:
GENE ENCODING TRANSCRIPTION FACTOR OF PLANT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2003219891
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To identify a gene encoding a transcription factor specific to a stress- resistance gene from a monocotyledon such as rice and provide a new plant resistant to environmental stress by using the gene.

A gene encoding a transcription factor to activate the transcription of the gene by bonding to a cis element at the upstream side of a gene encoding a stress-responding protein is identified from a rice genom. A plant is transformed by using the transcription factor gene to improve the resistance of the plant to environmental stresses such as low-temperature, dryness and salt.
